It was probably just a few years ago when an older someone in my family said, “Kelley, have you ever heard of people calling the fat above your pants a MUFFIN TOP? HAHAHAHA!!! A muffin top! Get it! The fat folds over your jeans and it looks like a muffin. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!”
She was a little behind the times on that one.
I don’t know when I first heard someone calling it a “muffin top”, but I know it was at least a gazillion years ago. It is crazy that I didn’t think of calling that lovely fat collection a “muffin top” first when I have been known to sport an “Otis Spunkmeyer top” around at times. By now I probably would be a really stinkin’ rich.
I think by now all of us know about the muffin top.

Oh, yes, we know the muffin top, we hate her stupid face.
Everyone treats their muffin tops differently.
Some of us hate it and some of us seem to love it.

Do you find juuuuust the right size jeans to accommodate your muffin top and then if it isn’t accommodated juuuuust right enough you slap on Spanx, knock-off Spanx, girdles or a “yummy tummie”?

There really are just so many ways one can treat his or her muffin top. As many of you know, I am working with Sean Millhouse of Fitness 101 and Northwest Personal Training Center on my journey to become more fit and healthier. He is helping me get my muffin top under control and I tell you all about it.
(To be honest, the most reliable way of getting my muffin top under control would be to have a cardboard cutout of Sean in my pantry. I wouldn’t touch anything because of just hearing what he might say in my head.
I have a feeling I would turn cardboard Sean to face the wall after a couple of days.
I have made the switch to eat better and to exercise more, but I’m sort of not all the way there. I can put away some pizza. I can eat my share of cake. I can steal the fries.
But, I’m trying to get better.
I’m trying to banish the muffin top.
Don’t you worry, though. It’s still there. Sometimes I get a little ahead of myself and try to cram myself into pants that I feel like will surely fit by now.
That muffin top just laughs in my face.
