It's getting down to the wire, folks.
THE Top Chef will be crowned soon. Well, not really, really soon, but soon enough.
We're down to the Final Four, after all. Only, it's not that simple, since the creative people over at Bravo have tossed in Last Chance Kitchen and Save-A-Chef, too.
So, here's the scoop, for those that aren't following Top Chef super closely, but still want to play along and do some guessing. There are four chefs left that have not been asked to pack up their knives and go at any point yet. Those chefs are Lizzie, Sheldon, Brooke and Josh.

Okay, then we have something called Last Chance Kitchen. This is where the person who just got kicked off Top Chef gets to compete in a fast competition, which can only be viewed on-line and immediately after Top Chef, with the reigning victor of Last Chance Kitchen. This week, Kristen, who had won the week prior by beating CJ and was the reigning victor, battled Stefan, who had just been ousted this week on Top Chef.

So, we have Josh, Sheldon, Brooke, Lizzie and Kristen as possible winners of the Top Chef crown, in addition to the two guys battling it out in the Save-A-Chef competition, which is a voting process that goes on during the week on Twitter. That competition is between the two last people to lose in Last Chance Kitchen, which would be Stefan and CJ. The person who ultimately is saved via Twitter during the Save-A-Chef competition has another opportunity to compete in Last Chance Kitchen to get back into the show at the end. This is why you will see tweets like #savechefcj or #savechefstefan. The hashtags count as votes. Their fans are trying to keep them in the game.
So, the list of potential winners of the title of Top Chef include Brooke, Sheldon, Josh, Lizzie, as well as Kristen, CJ and Stefan. So, though we are down to the "final four", any one of these 7 people could be crowned Top Chef. (There is still lots of cooking to do, people! Don't put your fork down just yet!)
I thought it would be fun to have a guessing game to see which one of you pick the winner of the entire competition. I have put together some facts about each chef below, so that people who don't even watch the show at all can make an educated guess. This contest will run until Wednesday, February 6th, at 5:00 p.m. central. Then, when the show is over, I will pick a winner using the Rafflecopter form. The first name the Rafflecopter picks won't be declared the winner unless that person guessed the winner of Top Chef correctly, of course.
The prize?
$100.
I know that won't buy you the new shoes you were coveting at Kohl's (okay, it totally will), but, hey, it's $100. I'd love someone to give me $100 for guessing something right, especially if I didn't have to pay anything to enter! Can I get an Amen?

Below each name will be the total number of wins, which were calculated by adding the number of times that person was in the top group of the Quickfire Challenges, number of times that person won an individual Quickfire and/or Elimination Challenge, the number of times that person was on the winning team of an Elimination Challenge and, if applicable, number of times that person won on Last Chance Kitchen. If you want any contestant's actual numbers, I can give them to you. You can just ask for them in the comments. For easier reading, I included the total number of "wins" under each chef's picture and whether or not they won any individual tasks.

Oooh, this is hard! Of the current final four, I think Brooke will win. BUT I think CJ is going to win Save-A-Chef, and Kristen is going to win Last Chance Kitchen. I think the finale will come down to Kristen & Brooke...and I honestly don't know who will win. Probably Kristen.
So the short answer is Kristen is my prediction for winner.
Which means some asshole like Josh is going to win. Did I mention I've watched every season of Top Chef & have never accurately predicted the winner?!?
I'm still trying to figure out how they are doing the save a chef thing live and yet I would assume they already have filmed the finale... I think it will be Lizzie. Unless CJ can get back. And then it will CJ.

I know. That is true! I'm not sure how they are handling that either. Quick question: I went to test out the Rafflecopter and I don't see the messages that I entered to be tweeted out, yet I saw that you must have seen them. Do you know if Rafflecopter shows up differently for the person hosting the contest?
She does have a really great track record! If it wasn't for that bouillabaisse, she would still be there kicking behinds! She'll just have to do it from Last Chance Kitchen.
Something tells me that Sheldon is going to win. He's quiet and does very different dishes than the others. I think he might sneak in and win.

I think it's going to come down to Kristin, SHeldon and Brooke. I think hands down Kristin is the best chef...but I have a soft spot for Sheldon. I think after this week with him almost being eliminated, he's going to be defeated (dude, seriously? failed tempura again?). I'm picking Kristin.

I totally think it will be Kristin, Sheldon and Brooke too - I think Stefan will knock CJ out of save a chef. Kristin for the win. She got knocked down and tasted blood.

You think so?? This is so interesting. Okay, I totally agree with Kristen and Sheldon AND Brooke. I just don't know about CJ and Stefan. They both seem to have pretty impressive backgrounds. Who does Tom like more?? I think Stefan was so rude to him at the restaurant, that he will pick CJ over him, even if CJ served frozen pizza!

Before I put the numbers together like that, I didn't realize how good she really was... It seems like Brooke and Kristen were always winning everything. He is pretty different. I really like Sheldon a lot. He has A LOT of impressive titles under his belt already. Until I researched for this post, I didn't realize that he had won all of those awards or was nominated for them. It is very impressive. I just don't know if he can win against Kristen. Ohhh!! See, this is the FIRST season of Top Chef that I have watched! Isn't that awful?? I DO know that Monica Pope was in Season 2. She has a restaurant here in Houston and we ate at her house for "Outstanding in My Backyard". We bought tickets, of course. Do either of you remember her from season 2? I wonder how she did on the show. I need to Google that and watch it on DVD or something.

I watched TC season 2 a long time ago, so I googled her to help me recall...and found out she was on season 2 of Top Chef Masters. :P (Which I intend on watching one day) Anyway, I'm glad that Top Chef has gained yet another great fan! :) I myself have only watched TC seasons 2, 8, 9 and 10.

Here's my logic: I just don't see Josh winning. I like him, but I don't know how the whole loving bacon thing plays over with a Top Chef winner. And I also really like Sheldon, but just don't see him as the winner. So that sort of left me with Lizzie by default- even though I like the others better. And I really think whoever comes back from LCK or if the twitter vote brings someone back- that will be a game changer.
Shoot. When I wrote that I totally had Brooke in my mind. Got my cheftestants confused. I've kind of written Kristen off because I feel like CJ will end up winning that last spot. We'll see! (and that's awesome about Sheldon!)

According to Wikipedia, they're "world-renowned chefs", as opposed to the "younger professional cooks who are still rising in the food service industry". So, basically, Top Chef Masters is a competition for the more experienced and decorated chefs in the industry. :)

I really really really really want one of the women to win this season because Top Chef is definitely Man Heavy in its victory circle. (Not that man-heavy is a bad thing. But.) I think Kristen is the best and I LOVE Brooke so I'd be good with either of them (I don't think it will be Lizzie although I think her accent is adorable and I admire her good attitude and the fact that she NEVER throws other chefs under the bus...but I digress).
If the show wants to lend credence to their Last Chance Kitchen, they'll work it out so Kristen wins so that it's evident that a kicked-off chef still has a viable shot at the title.
But. Top Chef has never bowed to that kind of thing - or popularity or alliances or any of that crap. So really. If Kristen wins, it will be because she's the best.

Julie!! Wow, you know your Top Chef! I never watched the show before this season. I didn't realize it was mostly men that had won. I would love to see a woman win it for once! You make a great point about Last Chance Kitchen. Kristen probably will go all the way through that. You don't think CJ will beat her? She is a pretty awesome cook. Are you a part of the contest?
